Gone Dudi hunting.

Our venezuelan wunder kind is making two major agencies fight over him… yeah, Dudi, make them want ya!!!!!

“Be vewy quiet… I’m hunting Dudi…”

Askonas Holt and Van Walsum are very busy trying to decide who snatched Dudi from whom, since the young and very promising conductor can be the next super star in classical music and therefore, make tons of money.

So it’s hunting seanson, huh?  The people at Van Walsum say no, of course not, it’s a very, veeeeery normal thing that happens every day.  The guys at Askonas Holt are not so happy and easy about it, since the loved Dudi… and his future.

As for the money, Martin Campbell White head of Askonas Holt, says:

We don’t have contracts with our musicians; at least, my company doesn’t. I don’t believe in them. If there’s not a trust between manager and musician then it becomes just about money. And this may sound pompous, but my philosophy has never been to push ruthlessly for the highest fees. Perhaps, as a result, we have our longest relationships with musicians of a similar nature. Simon [Rattle] has no idea what his fees are. He trusts me. And our artists are free to go to other agents if they want — though of course it’s disappointing when they do.”

This fewd lets us have a small view of the other side of the classical music world: the business side… trust is the basis, yes, but the money is one of the keys, specially in a business that threatened for years.
