OOOOOhhhhhh…. do we have some news…. and right for Simon’s birthday…
But this time it´s all about Simon’s super talented kid: Sasha. Our man’s older offspring is also a musician, but he has chosen an instrument rather than the podium: the clarinet.

I know. Young Sasha could have chosen something with more exposure -like the piano, or the violin. But no, he went for one of the most underrated musical instruments of all, at least in classical music.. you know that in jazz it’s a very diferent thing…
Well, the bio goes like this: Sasha entered this world in 1983, in London and he started his training at age 9 -awwwww…. After mum and dad divorced, he went with mum and baby brother Elliot to San Francisco, where he continued his studies. Yes, he is very disciplined -like his dad- and Simon has said many times that it has been a joy to see his older son so in love with music.
Since 2005 Sasha has been living in Berlin and has been very busy: Masters on Interpretation, no less. Of course, he keeps in touch with his dad and they have colaborated in a couple of performances already… he even played with his son when he graduated from high school in San Francisco at gala to celebrate the tenth annyversary of the New Century Chamber Orchestra, where Sasha played.
This young man does not waste any time: he tours a lot, he studies and he has already cofounded a musical ensemble, the Berlin Counterpoint. So he is not doing the “following my father’s footsteps” kind of thing, better yet he is building his own career and he will surely surprise us in the near future. But of course, he can play with the top names in the business and has played with many of them, like Gidon Kremer and the Lábeque sisters.
And the future awaits….
